- In 1876 (Meiji 9), the predecessor Kinkikyo School was opened in Hikone City, Shiga Prefecture. In 1902, it was renamed the Third Buddhist Middle School, moved to its current location in Kyoto City in 1909, and established the private Heian Middle School in 1910. In 1948, Heian High School was established under the new system. It became coeducational in 2003, was renamed Ryukoku University Affiliated Heian High School in 2008, and merged with the school corporation Ryukoku University in 2015.

- 岩坪湧人 (3rd year) participated in the men's individual event at the 72nd All Japan High School Kendo Tournament (National High School Championships) in August 2025 (defeated in the 2nd round). 岩坪湧人 placed 2nd in the men's individual event at the Kyoto Prefecture Inter-High qualifiers in June 2025 and earned the right to compete. The men's team finished as runners-up in the 2025 Kyoto Prefecture Inter-High qualifiers (defeated by Kumiyama in the final). - Founded in 1899 as “Koyo Gakusha.” In 1956, it was reorganized into the school corporation Kochi Gakuen, and in 1957, it moved to its current location.

- According to the official website of school corporation Kochi Gakuen, the high school has participated in national tournaments 9 times as a team and 5 times individually over the past 4 years. The high school has the overall strength of winning 30 sports in 55 events at the prefectural general athletic meet.
