It was renamed Kyushu Middle School in 1943, Kyushugakuin Middle School in 1946, and Kyushugakuin High School opened in 1948. It transitioned from an all-boys school to coeducation in 1991 (Heisei 3).

Let's Kendo reports that they have a player who has appeared in both the spring and summer tournaments and placed 3rd in the individual event at the Kyushu tournament. The men's individual is 最所溜偉(さいしょ るい) and the women's individual is 片地枇愛.
